STANCE JIU JITSU ACADEMY LTD
MEMBERSHIP TERMS & CONDITIONS
PLEASE READ CAREFULLY BEFORE SIGNING. THESE TERMS FORM A LEGALLY BINDING AGREEMENT.
These Terms & Conditions (“Agreement”) govern the relationship between you (“the Member”) {name} and Stance Jiu Jitsu Academy Ltd (“the Academy”, “we”, “us”).
By signing up for membership and/or attending classes, you agree to be bound by this Agreement.
1. Membership & Billing
Membership fees are payable monthly via direct debit or recurring payment method.
Payments will be collected on a rolling monthly basis from the date of initial sign-up.
The Member is responsible for ensuring that all payment details are accurate and kept up to date.
2. Payment Obligations
All membership fees must be paid in full and on time.
If payment fails:
- The Academy may suspend access to classes immediately
- The Member remains liable for all outstanding fees
- Access will only be restored once all balances are cleared
The Academy reserves the right to take reasonable steps to recover unpaid fees.
3. No Fixed-Term Contract
Membership is ongoing and continues until properly cancelled in accordance with this Agreement.
There is no minimum term.
4. Cancellation by the Member
Members may cancel at any time by providing a minimum of 30 days’ written notice.
Notice must be submitted by email to:

The notice period begins on the date the email is received.
5. Notice Period and Continued Billing
During the 30-day notice period:
- Membership remains active
- Full access to classes continues
- All scheduled payments remain due
No refunds, credits, or prorated adjustments will be provided if the Member chooses not to attend during this period.
6. Non-Attendance
Non-attendance does not:
- Constitute cancellation
- Pause or freeze membership
- Remove payment obligations
All changes must be submitted in writing.
7. Freezing of Membership
Freezes are granted at the sole discretion of the Academy.
Requests must be made in writing by email.
The Academy reserves the right to refuse freeze requests where reasonable.
8A. Illness, Injury and Personal Circumstances
The Member {name} acknowledges and agrees that:
- Membership fees remain payable regardless of the Member’s personal circumstances, including but not limited to illness, injury, work commitments, travel, or changes in personal availability
- Illness or injury sustained outside of the Academy does not entitle the Member to any cancellation without notice, refund, credit, or automatic freeze of membership
- Requests for freeze due to medical reasons may be considered at the sole discretion of the Academy, and may require reasonable supporting evidence
- Unless otherwise agreed in writing, all payment obligations continue in full during periods of non-attendance
8. Bank Holidays and Scheduled Closures
The Academy may close on:
- UK Bank Holidays
- Christmas and New Year periods
- Other reasonable operational periods
Membership fees are not linked to a fixed number of classes.
No refunds, credits, or extensions will be issued for closures.
9. Termination by the Academy
Stance Jiu Jitsu Academy Ltd reserves the right to suspend or terminate a Member’s participation and/or membership at any time, with immediate effect, where reasonably necessary.
This includes, but is not limited to:
- Breach of these Terms & Conditions
- Failure to follow safety instructions or academy rules
- Unsafe, abusive, disruptive, or inappropriate behaviour
- Conduct that poses risk to members, staff, or the Academy
- Non-payment or repeated late payment
Where termination occurs:
- The Member may be immediately removed from training and denied access
- No refund, credit, or compensation will be provided
- Any outstanding fees remain payable
The Academy will act reasonably and in good faith when exercising this right.
Nothing in this clause affects the Member’s statutory rights.
10. Conduct and Safety
Members must:
- Follow all instructions given by coaches and staff
- Respect all safety and hygiene rules
- Train responsibly and safely with others
- Respect the dojo rules, staff, and internal policies
Failure to comply may result in suspension or termination without refund.
11. Health and Fitness
The Member confirms they are physically fit to participate.
The Member is responsible for monitoring their own condition and stopping if necessary.
Participation is undertaken at the Member’s own risk.
12. Personal Property
The Academy accepts no responsibility for loss, theft, or damage to personal belongings.
13. Changes to Timetable and Services
The Academy reserves the right to make reasonable changes to:
- Class schedules and timetables
- Instructors
- Class formats or structure
- Facilities or services
Such changes may be required due to operational, staffing, safety, or business needs.
The Member acknowledges and agrees that:
- Class schedules are subject to change
- Availability of specific classes is not guaranteed
- Membership is not tied to any specific class or timetable
Accordingly:
- No refunds, credits, or compensation will be provided
- Payment obligations remain regardless of attendance
The Academy will use reasonable efforts to provide notice of significant changes.
14. Limitation of Liability
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability for:
- Death or personal injury caused by negligence
- Fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation
- Any liability that cannot be excluded under law
15. Governing Law
This Agreement is governed by the laws of England and Wales.
16. Jurisdiction
The courts of England and Wales shall have exclusive jurisdiction.
17. Acceptance
By signing up for {membership_title} and/or attending classes, the {name}, {dob}, {address}, confirms that:
- They have read and understood these Terms
- They agree to be legally bound by them
